37° Flare Sealing Design

The JIC connection uses a 37° flared sealing surface that mates with a corresponding cone seat. When correctly aligned and tightened, the mating metal surfaces form the sealing interface. Proper surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and assembly torque are essential to connection performance.

Thread Engagement

JIC fittings commonly use UN/UNF straight threads, depending on the specified size and configuration. The threads provide mechanical engagement, while sealing takes place at the matched flare interface rather than through the threads themselves.

Connection Interface Compatibility

Male and female JIC components must match in thread size, flare geometry, and connection configuration.

Trivalent Chromium Zinc Plating: A zinc coating with trivalent chromium passivation for corrosion protection on compatible carbon steel fittings.

Zinc-Nickel Plating: An alternative coating for applications requiring enhanced corrosion resistance compared with conventional zinc plating, subject to the specified coating system.

Stainless Steel Passivation: A chemical treatment that helps maintain or restore the protective passive layer on suitable stainless steel components.

Custom Surface Finishes: Other coating systems or finishing requirements can be evaluated according to the application, corrosion exposure, and customer specifications.

Precision Machining: Controlled machining of fitting bodies, threads, and connection features according to the specified design.

Thread Inspection: Thread gauges and dimensional measuring instruments can be used to verify thread conformity.

Flare Surface Inspection: Critical 37° sealing surfaces are checked for geometry, finish, and visible machining defects.

Material & Coating Verification: Material identification and surface treatment requirements can be checked against the order specification.

Final Inspection: Selected dimensions, appearance, and order-specific requirements are verified before shipment.

Application-Specific Testing: Pressure, leakage, or other functional testing can be arranged where applicable to the fitting design and assembled system.
